The Prevention and Treatment of Fish Diseases

    Just like human being may suffer from diseases sometimes, your aquarium fishes will get sick as well. Fishes diseases are quite common in aquarium pet breeding, unlike dogs and cats who could be treated by veterinarians, fishes may easily die once they are ill due to their living environment. Therefore here I would like to share some knowledge about the prevention and treatment of fish diseases with you.
    First, the source and condition of the disease must be understood completely if you want to cure the fishes. And the most basic way is to classify the disease and then administrate treatment accordingly. However, you could only use some common medicine to have a try if you can't sure what kind of diseases you fishes suffer exactly. Besides, the sick fish must be transferred immediately from the aquarium, or it will infect other fishes.
    Hypoxia is the most common disease for fishes. The main source of oxygen in the water comes from the dissolved oxygen of alga, the lack of oxygen may asphyxiate the fishes, and they will breathe surface. Therefore, to ensure your fishes have enough oxygen, you'd better prepare an air pump in your aquarium.
    In addition, you could lower the water level to create the better treatment condition for your fishes. Many ornamental fishes are in need of great amount of oxygen, the low water level enables them to breathe the dissolved oxygen. Besides, the low water level is good for weak fishes to swim comfortably.
    You could also add some salt into your fish aquarium for treatment. Actually salt is a kind of catholicon for fish diseases, the main theory is killing the bacteria through cell dehydration caused by the osmotic difference of the cell. Nevertheless, this could only be regarded as the auxiliary method for fish disease treatment, the treatment effect will be better if other therapeutic methods are carried out as well.
