The Common-Senses about Aquarium Sterilizer

Many fishes keepers may feel confused about the working theory and function about sterilizer, thus here I would like to introduce some useful common-senses for sharing.
The working theory of aquarium sterilizer is by using ultraviolet ray. The ultraviolet ray could destroy and change the DNA of microorganism so that the bacteria will die immediately or lose the ability of breeding. The strongest aquarium sterilizer must be UV sterilizer for the UVC ultraviolet ray is easy to be absorbed by DNA especially ultraviolet ray in 253.7nm.
The main function of aquarium sterilizer is killing different kinds of spore spread in the water, and it also works in alga elimination. Besides, the sterilizer can kill the bacteria which exist in the aquarium so as to give the fishes a cleaner and more comfortable environment.
In addition, due to the ultraviolet do great harm to the health of human beings, thus your sterilizer must be used in a isolated environment. Though bacteria and spore are always hiding in the filter material and bottom load but the sterilizer could not use to irradiate them for the ultraviolet ray may influence us as well. On the other hand, the probiotic in these places should be protected. Thus your aquarium sterilizer should work in a rather closed environment.
But remember that aquarium sterilizer could not substitute your filter. For example, sterilizer could only kill a small parts of alga in your aquarium, but there still leave a great amount of alga. And the wastes of fishes and leftover would also generate ammonia which is another killer of your fishes. Thus, if you do want to have a clean and healthy aquarium, you should make full uses of your aquarium filters and sterilizer, let them guarantee the environment of your aquarium together.
